TIME MARKER | GEOLOGY + LANDFORM
The goal of the project was to create a final resting place for a fictional client who owned a large portion of desert land in Arizona. He wanted the project to express his love for the land it was built on, symbolizing its present, past, and future. As such the design reflects the ever-changing nature of the desert. As the desert floor shifts a series of stilts and gabion walls react, creating a kinetic wall that follows suit. Overtime the wall will move, create space for life, and eventually disconnect and fall to earth, as most things in life do. The design is meant to touch lightly on the land until the end of the chain where the gabion walls gradually reach the ground, terminating at the man’s eventual place in the earth. Here a space for contemplation emerges and one can bear witness to the moving of the desert.
