Welcome

My name is Kate Stuteville, and I am a recent graduate of SCI Arc, where I obtained a Masters of Science in Fiction and Entertainment, and a former graduate of the University of Arizona, where I received a 5-year accredited bachelor’s degree in architecture.

In my time at the University of Arizona, I grew to love all the cumulative acts that make up design, from early sketching to final model fabrication. I was able to work on a variety of projects of different scales and team sizes, both practical and speculative. My interest in speculative design and design research was one of the many reasons I chose to further my education at SCI Arc through a post graduate program. Through the course I was able to work with celebrated professionals in film, fiction, animation, marketing, and gaming to learn new forms of creative architectural practice. While there I wrote, directed, and produced a short film that speculated on prospective forms of labor in a future automated landscape.

In my internships and through my schooling I have found collaborating with others to be an essential and rewarding part of the design process. In addition to working with others, the ability to adapt to new and unique challenges is a skill I feel crafts my ethic and approach to design.
